Gita and Natyashastra added to UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register
On 17th April 2025, in a historic recognition of India’s cultural and philosophical legacy, the Bhagavad Gita and Bharat Muni’s Natyashastra have been inscribed in UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register.
- With the inclusion of the Gita and Natyashastra, India now has 14 entries in UNESCO’s prestigious Memory of the World Register.

The Bhagavad Gita, a sacred dialogue between Lord Krishna and Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, forms a part of the Mahabharata.
