Sant Guru Ravidas
On 12th February 2025, Prime Minister paid tributes to Sant Guru Ravidas on his birth anniversary.
Guru Ravidas’ Early Life
- Born in 1377 CE in Seer Goverdhanpur (Varansi, Uttar Pradesh), he was a Bhakti movement saint, poet, and social reformer.
- Also known as Raidas, Rohidas, and Ruhidas, he belonged to a marginalised community but emphasised human rights, equality, and spiritual enlightenment.
Teachings
- Equality: He rejected caste-based discrimination and promoted a society where everyone is treated with respect.
- Devotion to God: He believed that true devotion to God is above rituals and social status.
