Recently, Cyberspace Administration of China proposed rules to regulate digital human services amid rising AI misuse risks.
- Digital humans are AI-driven virtual avatars simulating human appearance, voice, behaviour and interaction.
- They are created using computer graphics, AI and digital image processing technologies.
- Can be based on real individuals or fully synthetic algorithm-generated personalities.
- Widely used in customer service, entertainment, marketing and public services.
- Concerns include impersonation, fraud, misinformation and privacy violations.
- Draft rules mandate clear labelling of AI-generated digital humans.
