Indian Navy Inducts ‘Sanshodhak’
On 30th March 2026, the Indian Navy received Sanshodhak, the fourth and final Survey Vessel (Large) built under the SVL project by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd.

- Fourth and final ship of the Survey Vessel (Large) programme.
- Earlier vessels: Sandhayak, Nirdeshak, Ikshak (commissioned 2024-2025).
- Contract signed in October 2018.
- Design & Construction:
- Designed by the Navy’s Warship Design Bureau.
- Built indigenously at GRSE, Kolkata.
- Primary Role:
- Hydrographic surveys in coastal and deep waters.
- Mapping harbour approaches and navigation routes.
- Collection of oceanographic and geophysical data.

- Length: ~110 metres.
- Displacement: ~3,400 tonnes.
- Speed: Over 18 knots (diesel-powered).
