IVRI Produces Indigenous Sahiwal Calves Using IVF Technology

Recently, the Indian Veterinary Research Institute successfully produced five Sahiwal calves using advanced OPU-IVF-ET technology, marking a breakthrough in livestock genetic improvement.

What is OPU-IVF-ET Technology?

  • OPU (Ovum Pick-Up): Eggs collected using ultrasound guidance.
  • IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation): Eggs fertilised in laboratory.
