Revised Rural Area Development Plan Formulation and Implementation Guidelines

On 20th January, 2022, Ministry of Panchayati Raj released the revised Rural Area Development Plan Formulation and Implementation (RADPFI) Guidelines.

Need

  • Absence of Rural Spatial Planning:Many spatial development initiatives have been implemented in India especially in urban areas, but there has been no comprehensive exercise for rural spatial planning of panchayats/villages.
  • Unused Geospatial Potential: In recent times, there has been large growth in rural areas but this unplanned growth has led to inefficient utilisation of geospatial potential in rural areas.
  • Large Geographical Extent:In India, owing to the large percentage of rural areas, there is more need to plan and transform rural area ....
