Battery Storage Technologies
Battery storage technologies involve devices that store electrical energy in chemical form and release it as electricity when needed. It is the heart of the EV revolution and grid stability. They rely on the movement of ions between a positive electrode (cathode) and a negative electrode (anode) through a medium called an electrolyte.
How the Technologies Work
- Lithium-ion (Li-ion) Mechanism: During charging, lithium ions move from the cathode to the anode. During discharge (powering the vehicle), the ions move back to the cathode, creating a flow of electrons that powers the motor.
