Desalination Technology

Desalination technology converts seawater or brackish water into potable water suitable for human consumption, irrigation, and industrial use.

The Concept

It utilizes physical or thermal energy to overcome the osmotic pressure of saline water, separating pure water molecules from dissolved salts.

How the Technology Works

  • Reverse Osmosis (RO): This is the most widely used method. High-pressure pumps force seawater through a semi-permeable membrane. The membrane allows water molecules to pass through while blocking larger salt ions and impurities.
