India Semiconductor Mission (ISM)
The India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) is a flagship national programme aimed at establishing a robust, end-to-end semiconductor and electronics manufacturing ecosystem within the country. The mission reflects India’s strategic policy shift from being a major electronics consumer to becoming a trusted global producer of semiconductors, which are foundational to modern digital, industrial, and defence systems.
By prioritising domestic fabrication, design, packaging, and supply-chain integration, ISM directly supports economic growth, technological sovereignty, national security, and inclusive digital development.
How Semiconductor Technology Works
- Semiconductor manufacturing starts with chip design using electronic design automation (EDA) software.
- Designs are transferred to wafer fabs, where silicon wafers ....
