Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP)

The Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP) was a government-approved national programme launched in 1983 under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, to achieve self-reliance in missile technology. The programme aimed to develop a comprehensive range of guided missiles while creating indigenous capability in propulsion, guidance, materials, warheads, and test infrastructure. IGMDP successfully delivered five missile systems - Prithvi, Agni, Akash, Trishul, and Nag -and was formally completed in March 2012, laying the foundation for India’s strategic and tactical missile forces.
