National Smart Wearable Ecosystem

Smart wearables are electronic devices worn on the body - such as smartwatches, fitness bands, and smart rings - that use sensors to track biological and physical data. These devices form part of the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), providing a continuous interface between the human body and digital health platforms.

How do wearables work?

  • Data Sensing: Wearables use specialized sensors like Photoplethysmography (PPG) to measure heart rate and oxygen levels (SpO2) by shining light into the skin and measuring the reflection.
  • Movement Tracking: Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS), such as accelerometers and gyroscopes, detect the wearer’s motion, orientation, and step count.
  • Processing: A ....
