National Sports Governance (National Sports Bodies) Rules, 2026
On 12th January 2026, the Union Government notified the National Sports Governance (National Sports Bodies) Rules, 2026 under the National Sports Governance Act, 2025.
Key Provisions of the National Sports Governance Rules, 2026
Athlete Representation (Sportspersons of Outstanding Merit - SOMs)
- Every National Sports Body (NSB) must include a minimum of four SOMs in its General Body. At least 50% of these SOMs must be women.
- The Executive Committee must have at least four women members.
- NSBs are also allowed to reserve specific posts for SOMs in their byelaws.
