Government Upgrades IREDA to ‘Schedule A’ CPSE
On September 29, 2023, the Union government upgraded the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA), India's largest green financing Non-Banking Finance Company, from 'Schedule B' to 'Schedule A' category of Central Public Sector Enterprises.
- The elevation of IREDA to the ‘Schedule A’ category opens the door for its upgradation from “Mini Ratna (Category– I)” to “Navratna” status.
Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) Classification
- Cognate Group-wise Classification: The cognate group wise classification is based on the generic nature of work carried out by CPSEs and comes closest to the sectoral classification of industries in the private sector.
