Origin

  • Kurumba painting is a prehistoric art form, estimated to be over 3,000 years old.
    • It originates from the Kurumba tribe inhabiting regions of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka.
    • Traditionally, the art was created on rocks and cave walls in the high hills of the Nilgiris.

Raw Materials and Tools

  • The paintings use natural pigments sourced from forests.
