Towards Resilient and Prosperous Cities in India
On 9th July 2025, the World Bank, in partnership with the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, released a critical report, titled “Towards Resilient and Prosperous Cities in India”, warning that India’s urban growth is at risk due to increasing climate vulnerabilities, especially heat waves and urban flooding.

- Cities expected to contribute 70% of new jobs by 2030, making them central to India’s economic future.
- 144 million new homes will be needed by 2070 to meet population growth demands.
