‘Country of Origin’Made Mandatory to Sell Products on GeM
On 23rd June, 2020,government made it mandatory for sellers on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal to clarify the country of origin of their goods when registering new products. The move aims to promote Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) and push India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Key Details
- Percentage of National Content of Products: GeM has activated a specification of the percentage of national content in the products.With this new feature on the marketplace, the Country of Origin, as well as the local content percentage are visible across all products.
