Credit Guarantee Scheme for Subordinate Debt
- On 24th June, 2020, the government launched the Credit Guarantee Scheme for Subordinate Debt (CGSSD) to help the distressed Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises(MSME) sector.
- Also called “Distressed Assets Fund–Subordinate Debt for MSMEs”,it is part of AtmaNirbhar Bharat package announced on 13th May, 2020.
- The scheme will be operationalised through Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for MSEs(CGTMSE).
Key Highlights
- As per the Scheme, the guarantee cover worth Rs. 20,000 crores will be provided to the promoters who can take debt from the banks to further invest in their stressed MSMEs as equity.
