Iran refuses to give Nuclear Site Images to IAEA
On 28th June, 2021, the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament said Tehran will never hand over images from inside of some Iranian nuclear sites to the U.N. nuclear watchdog - International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as a monitoring agreement with the agency had expired.
Background
- In 2015, Iran agreed a long-term deal on its nuclear programme with a group of world powers known as the P5+1 - the US, UK, France, China, Russia and Germany.
- Under the accord, Iran agreed to limit its sensitive nuclear activities and allow in international inspectors in return for the lifting of crippling economic sanctions.
