Standing Committee on Economic Statistics
On 28th December, 2019, the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI) constituted a 28 member Standing Committee on Statistics (SCES) chaired by former Chief Statistician Pronab Sen to improve quality of data amid criticism of the government over political interference. The first meeting of the SCES is scheduled on 6th January, 2020. Its objective is to review and develop the country’s surveys on employment, industry and services sectors.
Reasons for Constituting SCES
