India Slips to 112th Rank on Gender Parity Index

India has slipped to 112th rank among 153 countries in the annual Global Gender Gap Index for 2020, published by the World Economic Forum (WEF).

  • The Report benchmarks countries on their progress towards gender parity in four dimensions: Economic Participation and Opportunity; Educational Attainment; Health and Survival and Political Empowerment.
  • It measures gender-based gaps in access to resources and opportunities in countries, rather than the actual levels of the available resources and opportunities.
