1.7 million Indians Died due to Air Pollution in 2019: Lancet Report

As many as 1.7 million deaths in India — 18 per cent of the total deaths in the country — were attributable to air pollution in 2019, according to a report by Lancet Planetary Health.

  • The report ‘The India State-Level Disease Burden Initiative’ estimates health and economic impacts of air pollution, both from indoor and outdoor sources.
