International Seed Treaty
The 8th session of the Governing Body(GB)of International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA), popularly known as the International Seed Treaty, was held in Rome, Italy from 11th – 16th November, 2019.
- The GB rejected a compromise package on enhancing the Multilateral System (MLS)of access and benefit-sharing for plant genetic resources for food and agriculture.
- However, it agreed to reconducttheAdhoc Technical Expert Group on Farmers’ Rights.
