Government Implements Shekatkar Committee Recommendations

  • Government has accepted and implemented three important recommendations of Committee of Experts (CoE) under the Chairmanship of Lt General D B Shekatkar (Retd) relating to border Infrastructure. These were related to speeding up road construction, leading to socio economic development in the border areas. Also, it has given a green signal to scrap almost 1000 posts in the Military Engineering Services.
  • The Shekatkar committee, set up in 2016 by former defence minister had made several suggestions on how to make the Indian armed forces more leaner, cohesive and modern.
