Bill Introduced to Strengthen US-India Partnership
- A bipartisan group of American lawmakers has reintroduced an important legislation, the bill ‘H R 2123’ in the House of Representatives which seeks to advance the US-India strategic relationship.
- If enacted, the legislation would ensure that the US treats India as a NATO ally and the defence sales to India would be prioritized.
- The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2017 of USA designated India as a “Major Defence Partner” of the United States but it does not compel the State Department to view defence with India more favourably.
