U.S. Trade Representative Again Places India on Watch List
- On 26th April, 2019, United States Trade Representative’s (USTR) placed India again in Special 301 Report’s Priority Watch List.
Reasons behind India’s Inclusion
- India has been included in the list for the ‘long-standing IP challenges facing US businesses in India’and includesthe challenges that make it difficult for innovators to receive and maintain patents in India, particularly for pharmaceuticals.
- Lack of sufficient measurable improvements to India’s Intellectual Property (IP) framework has negatively affected American right holders over the past year. India remains one of the world’s most challenging major economies with respect to protection and enforcement of IP.
