Farmer’s Innovation Fund
During the 107th Indian Science Congress, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) announced to start a Farmers’ Innovation Fund (FIF) to disseminate beneficial and effective agricultural practices to farmers across the country.
- It will be used to scientifically validate, upscale and propagate innovations by farmers.
- An innovation centre will be established where the innovations will be scientifically validated. Apart, farmers will also be allowed to pursue research under the system.
- The ICAR had also developed 45 different organic farming models suitable for different agro-climatic regions and had validated 51 integrated farming systems to help increase farm income.
