Commissionerate System of Policing Approved for Lucknow and Noida
On 13th January, Uttar Pradesh cabinet approved the commissionerate system of policing for Lucknow and Noida. The system gives more responsibilities, including magisterial powers, to IPS officers of Inspector General of Police (IG) rank posted as commissioners.
Key Features of the Commissionerate System
- State capital Lucknow and economic capital of the state Noida will have an ADG-level officer as police commissioner.
- Both police commissioners will have magisterial powers including additional powers for effective and better policing.
