UNCCD Meeting Held at Delhi
The 14th meeting of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP 14) was held in New Delhi. The UNCCD meeting takes place every two years. A Framework for the Assessment of Benefits of Action/Cost of Inaction for Drought Preparedness report was released at the COP.
Cause of Concern
- A recent report by the International Resources Panel, a scientific body hosted by the UN Environment Programme, stated that about 25 per cent of world’s land area has been degraded.
