Sri Lanka Proposes Ban on Cow Slaughter
- The parliamentary group in Sri Lanka on September 08, 2020 approved proposal to completely ban slaughtering of cows in Sri Lanka to stop animal cruelty for curbing the desperate move to kill cow and cattle rampantly in the holy land of Sri Lanka.
- However, The Animal Act of Sri Lanka which exists today prohibits slaughtering of cows and cow-calves but allows the same in certain cases when it is certified by an appropriate authority. Still, there is no restriction on import of Beef in the country yet.
