Study Identifies Heatwave Hotspots of India
A recent study conducted by researchers at the Department of Science & Technology (DST)-Mahamana Centre of Excellence in Climate Change Research (MCECCR) has found that northwestern, central and south-central India are the new hotspots of intense heatwave over the past 50 years.
What is a Heatwave?
- Qualitatively, heatwave is a condition of air temperature which becomes fatal to human body when exposed. Quantitatively, it is defined based on the temperature thresholds over a region in terms of actual temperature or its departure from normal.
