The Rise Of Regional States - Hyderabad (1724-1760)
Nizam-ul-Mulk Asaf Jah (1724-48)
- Founder of autonomous Hyderabad.
- His original name was Chin Quilich Khan, but Emperor Farrukhsiyar conferred on him the title of ‘Khan-i-Dauran’ and later ‘Nizam-ul-Mulk’.
- Appointed as the Wazir of the Mughal Empire (1722-24) by Muhammad Shah.
- Frustrated with the mughal court politics, he marched towards Deccan and granted him the title of ‘Asaf Jah’ in 1725.
- Though virtually independent in Deccan, he continued to recognize the Mughal Emperor as the sovereign.
- Established peace and security in the region by suppressing all disaffected Nobles and putting down theft and robbery.
