The Double Asteroid Redirection Test, NASA's first planetary defence test mission (DART) was launched on 21st November 2021.
About the Mission
- Mission Goal: The mission's goal is to test new technology in order to be prepared in the event that an asteroid collides with Earth in the future. The goal is to put to the test a recently developed technology that allows a spaceship to collide with an asteroid and change direction.
- The DART spacecraft is a low-cost spacecraft. It contains two solar panels and manoeuvres the spaceship with hydrazine propulsion. It also contains roughly 10 kg of xenon, which ....
