Neglected Tropical Disease
The 74th World Health Assembly approved the proposal of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to designate January 30, 2022, as "World Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) Day."
About NTD
- NTDs are communicable diseases that impact over one billion people in tropical and subtropical countries.
- The populations most affected are those living in poverty, without appropriate sanitation, and in close contact with infectious vectors, domestic animals, and livestock.
- At least one neglected tropical disease affects 149 countries and territories worldwide.
