Telecom Regulatory Authority of India released a Consultation Paper on Licensing Framework for Satellite based connectivity for low bit rate applications on 26th August 2021.
About Satellite based connectivity
- Satellite-based broadband connections work by transmitting and receiving broadband signals to a satellite in space, rather than via an underground copper/fibre network.
- Geostationary, Medium, and Low Earth orbit satellites can provide low-bit-rate satellite communication.
- Technological innovation (such as AI, cloud, and big data), as well as smaller and less expensive satellites, are all factors that favour the development of satellite-based connection.
