Recently, a sun halo was witnessed in different parts of Karnataka.
About Sun Halo
- A sun halo is an optical effect caused by sunlight being refracted by hexagonal ice crystals hanging in the sky. Because the light is refracted by 22 degrees from its initial orientation, it is also known as a '22-degree’ halo.
- Cirrus clouds, which originate at a height of over 20000 feet, produce circular halos in particular.
- Cirrus clouds are frequently a forerunner to the development of cyclonic warm fronts, therefore sun halos can also indicate ....
