Indo-Pacific Strategy of Canada
On 7th February, 2023, Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and India’s Minister of External Affairs held the meeting on Canada-India Strategic Dialogue in New Delhi.
- India welcomed Canada’s Indo-Pacific strategy, given the shared vision of a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific.
About Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy
- The Indo-Pacific is a replacement for the formerly dominating “Asia-Pacific”, which denoted the eastward shift of global processes from the Euro-Atlantic component.
- Focus: Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy is focused on four regions- China, India, the North Pacific (Japan and Koreas), and ASEAN.
- Fund: The strategy contains a funding commitment of US $1.7 billion over 5 years.
