Extension of National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK)
On 7th February 2025, the Union Cabinet approved the extension of the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK) for three years beyond 31st March 2025, extending its tenure until 31st March 2028.
Mandates of NCSK
- Recommend specific programs to eliminate inequalities faced by Safai Karamcharis.
- Study and evaluate the implementation of rehabilitation schemes.
- Investigate grievances and take suo-motu notice of non-implementation of policies.
- Monitor working conditions, wages, and health safety of Safai Karamcharis.
- Report challenges and suggest measures to the Central and State Governments.
