Government Extends Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) till 2028
On 1st February 2025, Union Finance Minister announced the extension of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) till 2028, with an outlay of Rs. 67,000 crore in the Union Budget 2025-26.
- The scheme, launched in August 2019, aimed to provide 55 liters per capita per day (lpcd) of drinking water to all rural households by 2024.
- Since its inception, 15 crore households (80% of rural India) have received potable tap water connections.
