- On 20th February 2025, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment distributed Sanitation Kits and Ayushman Health Cards to Safai Karamcharis under the Central Government’s National Action for Mechanized Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE) Scheme in Mumbai
- Objective of NAMASTE: Formalize sanitation workers, promote mechanized cleaning, and ensure safety.
- Nodal Ministries: Jointly by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE) and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).
- Implementing Agency: National Safai Karmacharis Finance Development Corporation (NSKFDC) under MoSJE
- Duration: FY 2023-24 to 2025-26 (3 years).
