RBI Survey on Farmer’s Share of Consumer Prices
In February 2025 the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released a survey analysing the share of consumer prices received by farmers for major rabi crops in India.
- The survey, conducted during May-July 2024, covered mandis/villages in 86 centres across 18 states for 12 rabi crops for farmers, traders and retailers.
What did the survey show?
- Rabi Crop Share: Farmers received a share ranging from 40-67 per cent of consumer prices for major rabi crops.
- Wheat: Wheat farmers emerged as the biggest beneficiaries, with a 67 per cent share of consumer prices.
