Centre Targets Six Crore 'Lakhpati Didis' by 2029-30
Recently, the Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare said the Centre would strive to achieve the target of creating 6 crore 'Lakhpati Didis' under the rural livelihoods mission by 2029-30.
- The previous target set by Centre to create 3 crore 'Lakhpati Didis' by end of 2027 was achieved by 2025 with the contribution of rural development ministry's team, bankers and also state governments.
Concept of Lakhpati Didi
- A Lakhpati Didi is a Self-Help Group member who earns an annual household income of Rupees One Lakh (Rs. 1,00,000) or more.
