Forest Rights Act (FRA) Cells
The Government of Odisha’s decision to close Forest Rights Act (FRA) Cells at the district and sub-district levels has attracted scrutiny from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, which has raised concerns about the potential impact on the effective implementation of the Forest Rights Act (FRA), 2006.
- FRA Cells are administrative support units set up under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA-JGUA) scheme to aid in the implementation of the Forest Rights Act, 2006.
- These cells are funded by the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs through grants-in-aid.
