India Joins US-led Pax Silica Alliance
On 20th February 2026, India formally joined the US-led Pax Silica alliance on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit.
- The move aligns India with a coalition focused on building resilient supply chains for critical minerals, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence technologies.
What is Pax Silica?
- Launched in December 2025 as a US-led initiative to secure and diversify supply chains for critical minerals and AI infrastructure.
- Aims to create a trusted, innovation-driven ecosystem among like-minded democracies.
- Focuses on silicon (core material for semiconductors), rare earths, and advanced chip technologies.
- Reflects the shift from oil geopolitics to silicon and AI geopolitics in the 21st century.
