MoSPI Releases New CPI Series with 2024 Base Year
On 12th February 2026, the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) released the new Consumer Price Index (CPI) series data based on the updated base year 2024.
- The CPI base year has been revised from 2012 to 2024 using data from the Household Consumption Expenditure Survey (HCES) 2023-24.
Why a New CPI Series?
Outdated Base Year and Survey Data
- The old CPI series was based on the 2012 base year and consumption patterns from the 2011-12 survey, which no longer reflect current economic realities.
