PM CARES Fund
Recently, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) informed the Lok Sabha Secretariat that questions related to the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund) are not admissible under Lok Sabha rules.
- PM CARES Fund has been registered as a Public Charitable Trust under the Registration Act, 1908 in 2020.
- It aims to deal with any kind of emergency or distress situation, like posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and to provide relief to the affected.
- Members include Prime Minister (ex-officio Chairman) and Minister of Defence, Home Affairs and Finance are ex-officio Trustees of the Fund.
