Supreme Court Issues Nationwide Directions on SWM Rules 2026
On 19th February 2026, in a significant ruling, the Supreme Court expressed serious concern over the uneven implementation of India’s solid waste management (SWM) framework and issued nationwide directions to ensure effective enforcement of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, which will come into force on April 1, 2026.
