Vibrant Villages Programme-II
On 20th February 2026, the Union government launched the second phase of the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP-II) in Nathanpur village, located in the Cachar district of Assam.
What is VVP-II?
- It is a continuation and expansion of the 1st phase (VVP-I) focusing on northern borders.
Aim
- To bolster infrastructure and security in India’s border areas.
Duration
• For financial years 2024-25 to 2028-29.
Coverage
• Phase II will cover villages along Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Myanmar.
• Strategic States: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
