Recently seven workers belonging to a particular community died in a hotel in Vadodra, Gujarat while cleaning septic tank. Through media report, it has come to light that people of this community have been practicing manual scavenging work since ages and it is their traditional occupation. However, some members expressed their plight that due to unavailability of some alternate regular employment, they are forced to take up job as manual scavengers.
