- The construction of forts in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana started from the early years of the medieval period. The major forts were built with the help of stones.
- The major forts of Andhra Pradesh include Kondapalli, Kondavidu, Bellamkonda, Nagarjunakonda, Vinukonda, Udayagiri, Adoni, Punukonda, Ratnagiri and Rai Durgam Fort etc.
- In Telangana, mainly Nirmal Fort, Bodhan Fort, Koles Fort, Khammam Fort, Ramgiri Fort, Medak Fort, Kolikonda, Warangal, Golconda etc. are historically important forts.
- Kondapalli Fort located in NTR district of Andhra Pradesh is built in Saracenic or Gothic or Neo-Mughal style.
