21st ASEAN-India Summit & 19th East Asia Summit

The 21st ASEAN-India Summit and the 19th East Asia Summit were held on October 10–11, 2024, in Vientiane, Lao PDR. These summits marked ten years of India’s Act East Policy and aimed to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with ASEAN and strengthen Indo-Pacific cooperation.

Key Outcomes of the Summits

  • The leaders adopted Joint Statements focused on strengthening strategic partnership and advancing digital transformation.
  • The year 2025 was declared as the ASEAN-India Year of Tourism, with India contributing $5 million in funding.
  • The ASEAN-India Digital Fund was expanded to support areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and financial technology (fintech).
